DECISION AT THE ORCHARD

Lorikeets fly over the dry land seeking food.
From the sanctuary comes the perfume of nectar.
At two o’clock the feeding plates are loaded,
more brilliant than flowers the stooping heads.

From the sanctuary comes the perfume of nectar.
As of one mind the flock wheels,
more brilliant than flowers the stooping heads.
Bright plumaged birds fly home over the orchards.

As of one mind the flock wheels.
On a barren land the fruit glows with sweetness.
Bright plumaged birds fly home over the orchards.
Into a cloudless sky the guns thunder.

On a barren land the fruit glows with sweetness.
From the reeling blue the birds descend.
Into a cloudless sky the guns thunder.
Bright are the feathers falling in death.

From the reeling blue the birds descend.
Fruiting orchards bask in the scented sunlight.
Bright are the feathers falling in death.
The guns discharge into a crowded sky.

Fruiting orchards bask in the scented sunlight
At two o’clock the feeding plates are loaded.
The guns discharge into a crowded sky.
Lorikeets fly over the dry land seeking food.
