CORRESPONDENCE WITH MY CAT

I recently received this letter from my cat:

 “Beside
or behind

in spite of your failings
I need you
dear one
never leave me. Your
cat
p.s.
I would love
to catch a mouse
when we walk
nothing
is difficult for this feline who is
diligent and capable. Your
cat”

Not having realized that he had taught himself to write I was impressed not only by his talent, but by his expression of his feelings towards me. I replied:

 “In front of me
you walk faithfully;
in my presence
don’t be afraid,
you hold my affection
beloved
Diamond.
p.s.
To hunt
and catch birds
in the garden
forbidden
most definitely
beloved
Diamond.”

I then received a letter in which the cat had cleverly combined his first letter and my response, thereby giving him the last word:

Beside in front of me
or behind you walk faithfully
in spite of your failings in my presence
I need you don’t be afraid
dear one you hold my affection
never leave me. Your beloved
cat Diamond
p.s. p.s.
I would love to hunt
to catch a mouse and catch birds
when we walk in the garden
nothing forbidden
is difficult for this feline who is most definitely
diligent and capable. Your beloved
cat Diamond
