FOUR SHORT POEMS FOR A SPRING NIGHT

A spring night:
above us the bright clouds
racing,
destination unknown.

 Between carved leaves, the moon:
a silver coin thrown
in one last bet
that the sun will rise!

 Beneath the tumbling fountain
fish lie still in sleep;
water in the currents
of their dreams.

 The city clouds through my trellis glow
impatient orange.
Here night never shows!
Here life never slows!
